Update 0.0.4 Small Tweaks and Changes
Alright, a new update, and unfortunately, not as much as I was hoping for. This cycle has been a little bit foggy for me honestly, as I felt the game was lacking a bit in direction, I was lacking a bit in motivation, and a general sense of fog over the whole project. However, there have been a couple of changes to the game that is now available.
The first thing is a new character model. This has come now with animations, so no more gliding around the floor. The character can now run around and jump, all with animations. While it might not be a big thing to shout about, this is a very small tweak that made me redo all of the art, killing a lot of my motivation honestly, as I am not the biggest fan of making art for the game
The second thing is a fragmented world. This means that all the areas like Sleepy Sticks, Whisperhollow Woods etc. now have their own scenes, leading to better performance. This is massive for the game, as now the game no longer runs like crap on any computer. What this does mean however is a bit more loading between areas, but it is only small amounts.
What I was hoping to do in this update was to add a bit more of the RPG elements, the attributes and the stats of the player. However, while all this is planned, I realized that it wouldn't be adding much to the game at the moment, as most of the skills wouldn't do anything, skills like Sneak and Lockpicking. I have designed the UI for it, and hopefully when I have a few more mechanics installed I can release that to you. In the meantime, I have a few screenshots to share. Both have placeholder art at the moment, but the main concept is there
Hopefully you guys will be able to play with a few of these in the next few updates, there are a couple of things I am trying to work out, like a good save system, but other then that, it should be pretty good to go.
Next update should be in October or so, and I plan on adding items into the game, things like Cases, potions, revives, and all of that kind of stuff.
